hour with one of their large pieces of equipment. I found this out from my
Avon lady who tried to deliver an order to me. She waited at the site fur
someone to move said equipment, but could see no one. She then drove to Ouray
(which is 28 miles from here) to deliver an order and on her way back she
again tried to get to my house but the lane was still blocked and still no one
in eight. Now, no one has a right to block the lane because it belongs to the
Uncompahgre Valley Water Users and it is the only means of access to and from
the highway that we and two other families along here have- Also, we have
permanent access to this lane per the water users- What if there had been an
emergency here?
6. Shoulder work was done to make an exit lane for United"s trucks but in
doing so they messed up the entrance to the lane. This lane does not meet the
highway at aright angle, but is canted slightly to the north which means
anyone making a left turn into the lane is going to have a hard time. The
reason for this is because they made the entrance several feet narrower than
it was originally. Also, there is a trench in between what is their driveway
and the lane and it is not visible until you are on top of it. People turning
right headed north will not see it and this will cause problems. We have a
boat which we take to Ridgway Dam and now it will be extremely difficult to
make the turn here. Before, with the state fence, we could at least estimate
our turn. By the way, what happened to the fence and the gate which are state
property?
7. We have had a lot to put up with in the three weeks this pit has been in
operation and they haven"t even started building their cement and asphalt
plants Yet.
Is this going to be our quality of life for the next ten years?
With regards,
~~ ~, a.~
rothy Becker
