i 1

BLM PIT WEST OF OLATHE
' SUMMARY

' The pit is located 6.8 miles southwest of Olathe, Colorado and is
accessible by State, County, and BLM roads. The area is situated on
BLM ground and has BLM ground on all sides. It is on a slope of about
' 5' to 100' to the northeast.
The pit is bedded Dakota sandstone with very little if any soil over-
burden. The small amount of soil overburden will be saved for use in
' reclaiming the disturbed areas. The material is to be used for riprap
material by the Maintenance Department as needed in the Montrose(Delta
areas. Quantities excavated each year will vary depending on the need
' for this type of material.
Reclamation will consist of terracing the mined areas with terraces
' about 100 ft. deep and 5 ft. high, all slopes will be less than 3:1,
and any soil overburden found during the mining operation will be used
over the disturbed areas. The area will be seeded as outlined in the
' BLM permit.
1
