<br />The soils of the Travessilla series are shallow, well

<br />of this series are moderately extensive in the .\rca and

<br />The soils of the Uncompahgre series are deep, some-
<br />whuC poorly ch'ainc(1, and moderately coarse textured
<br />to moderately fine texturr.(l. They formed on flood
<br />plains an(1 ]on' terraces in stratified, calcareous alluvium
<br />(lcrivc<l frwn manv kinds of rock. Soils of this series'
<br />arc extensicc in this _\rea, mainly along the Uncom-
<br />pahgre Ricer.
<br />Uncompahgre soils Lace a gray' or very dart: grag,
<br />friable, granular surface layer G to 18 inches thick. They
<br />h;tce a gray m' dart:-grac, stratified but pre(lominantly
<br />mc(lium-trstured subsoil That is mottled lvlth stams an(1
<br />su'cals of er;tc and brown. The substr:uunt, lvhich be-
<br />_ins at a depth of _0 to ~0 iuches, is ]ieht brownish-grac
<br />or eracish-brown mixed alluvium that is calcareous and
<br />sirnlilicd but prcdmnin;ulth' medium textured. It is
<br />strmlgly mottlcrl with streaks :uul stains of gray an(1
<br />brolcn. The depth to bedrock is GO inches or more.
<br />These soil; are not highly susceptible to erosion. The
<br />ore:ulic-mater content is moderately hi~•h, and the
<br />structure is stable.
