Mr. Wallace Erickson
September 9, 1998
Page 2
Attached you will find a copy of Susan's drawing. From this drawing it is
estimated that Mr. Stone has disturbed somewhere between eleven (11) to
fifteen (15) acres. We believe that the reclamation bond was for nine (9) acres.
The initial financial warranty was posted only for reclamation for the
disturbance of the process/stockpile area, for the entire activity of mining the
first unit and for stripping surface soil from the second unit to be mined. Was
there an agreement that allowed deviation from the original reclamation bond?
If so, could we have a copy of this agreement? Could you explain to us what
has been done to comply with the reclamation bond?
We are requesting that your oflice verify to us that not more than nine (9) acres
have been disturbed. If amendments or changes have been made to the
original reclamation bond, we aze also requesting copies of these changes.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
~~~~~' ~ ~
ty.~d,~ ~..~C~~
The Friends of South Montezuma Valley
Betty Morris, President
Lynda Emerson, Vice President
Susan Campbell Bell, Secretary/Treasurer
P.
