December 2003 Seneca Caa1 Campan~ * Seneca 11 W M±ne Sedimentation Pond O1 fA Derma Stabrkly Analyrir ~ 2
2.0 RESULTS
• Using the described inputs, the stability analysis indicates a static FOS of 2.4 for a downstream slope,
which meets the required FOS under applicable provisions of Rule 4.05.9(8)(6). The SLOPE/W
computer printouts, located in Appendix A, document all inputs and stability analysis results. This
stability analysis result is based on the assumption that construction practice employed for this
embankment resulted in embankment material compaction of at least 90% Standazd Proctor.
3.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
In order to achieve the design pazameters, it is recommended that the following procedures be
utilized in the construction of the sedimentation pond embankments:
1) Construct embankment in maximum 1-foot horizontal lifts.
2) Compact each individual lift to 90% of standard proctor using available equipment.
3) Maintain upstream slopes no steeper than 3H:1V and downstream slopes no steeper
than 3H:1V.
4) Vegetate the upstream and downstream slopes of the embankment in order to
control erosion.
•
MU!H, Ina 1801 California Street, Snite 2900 * Denver, Colorado 8010? * (303J 291-1727
J:\2470108 Seneca Caa/~TR-14\Pand 011 A Deign Stabiliq.rbr
11/04/03 Ajm
