Item 1. Descriation of observations from excavations around the mine site •
Bowie Resources, LLC had conducted numerous excavations with the slump area during the past
two years. These excavations have varied in size and have included:
• Access roads to drill pads
• Drill pads
• The B-seam portal area box cut
The determination of the 5-ft cube size for the rock fall was based on observations during these
excavations as well as observations both along the outcrop and areas down slope from the
channel sand outcrop.
Construction of access roads and drill pads indicated a maximum block size of less than 3 feet.
Excavation of the B-seam box cut indicated approximately 70% of the rock encountered were
less than or equal to the 5-ft cube size. The largest rock encountered in the excavation measured
about 22 ft by 12 ft by 12 ft. The superintendent in charge of the excavation noted that many
times the larger rocks encountered in the excavation were somewhat broken and fractured in to
smaller fragments. These larger rocks tended to be more rectangular in shape.
Observations on the slope below the channel sandstone outcrop indicated that the majority of the
blocks that had apparently traveled the longest distance downhill were those less than 5-ft in •
overall size. Large rocks in the talus slope tended to be more rectangular in shape.
U
/tl R-3`I
/~ PPRov~ 3~ y~o y
