Long
Division Director
RE: Bond Required for Permit Issuance, Rock School Lease
e
Exp
rimental Nahcolite Mine Project, File No. M-1999-051
Dear Mr. Day:
In accordance with a request from Mc lack Clark, consultant to AmerAlia, Inc., the Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) has completed the attached reclamation cost estimate for the disturbances related to the installation of
AmerAlia's monitoring wells. Based on the cost estimate, the total bond amount that would be required for the Rock
School Lease reclamation permit to be issued is $42,863.00. If a permit were to be issued with a bond in [his amount,
AmerAlia must understand that no further disturbance beyond the existing well pads I and 2, the well pad access road,
and the existing monitoring wells would be allowed unless appropriate additional bond is posted.
If the Bureau of Land Management will be holding a portion of [he reclamation bond amount, the DMG will not
require double bonding as long as the provisions of Hazd Rock/Metal Mining Rule 4.2.1(8) are fulfilled. The
minimum amount of bond that must be held by DMG for reclamation of the existing disturbances is $1,962.00, which
is the five percent administrative cos[ component required under section 34-32-117(4)(B)(I), C.R.S.
Please be advised that under Rule 4.1(2) if the permit is no[ issued by January 13, 2001 [he Mined Land Reclamation
Board will convene a hearing [o reconsider the approval of the Rock School Lease reclamation permit application.
Also, please be advised that the copy of the performance warranty you recently provided is not acceptable for permit
issuance. DMG must have an original signed and sealed performance warranty. If AmerAlia would like DMG to
consider permit issuance, please select a type of financial warranty from Rule 4.3 and contact us so we may provide
the appropriate warranty form.
If you have any questions, please contact me. ,
Sincerer;
~~ ~
Allen C.
