In a field visit on January 30, 1998 we counted 18 test pits
on the 158 acre parcel.
6. We cannot answer for the DMG (assuming this is who you mean by
"the Board"). We have no such form from Mr. Stone on file in this
office.
7. We have no specific mapping information recording the number
and loca`ion of test pits from June 5, 1997. We have, however,
visited the site and find that disturbance to the surface as a
result of the test pit operations is reasonable and no unnecessary
or undue degradation of resources has occurred. Enclosed is a map
prepared by our office which depicts the approximate test pit
locations. These are not surveyed, but are a best estimate from
our staff based or. topographical relationships in the field. based
on observations during our most recent field visit, we would
estimate the surface disturbance to be approximately 0.1 acre
disturbed with the operations. Disturbance associated with each
test pit varies from about 10' by 20' to 15' by 50' in size. Also
please note on the enclosed map the reroute of the road in the
southwest corner of the parcel. The original road (depicted on the
USGS topographic map) was rerouted to the south for protection of
cultural resources, however the original alignment is still visible
on the ground.
As 472 have offered in the past, we would welcome a field visit with
you to the site in question. 47e stand ready at a time convenient
to you and BLt4 to look at these issues in the field and discuss
this matter with you further. If you have any further questions or
to arrange a field m=_eting, please do not hesitate to call m2 or
Clyde Johnson at 970-247-4874.
Sincerely,
t~% ~'`8T1: H01'ft~ld(1
Kent Hoffman
Associate Area Manager
Enclosure
