Gunnison No. 1 Mine <br />Permit C-007-80 <br />Dear Ms. Seville: <br />The Division has completed its initial review of your May 23, 1984 technical <br />revision: The revision proposes to reactivate the laydown area ("U.S. Steel <br />• Lease") to be used for equipment storage and possible future facilities. <br />Your revision was deemed complete. Your proposed public notice was acceptable <br />and should be published in a local newspaper. <br />The Division has identified the following preliminary concerns that will need <br />to be resolved prior to our approval of the revision: <br />1. The revision should specify how much topsoil will be stripped from the <br />site. The stockpile location should be included on the map. <br />2. Right of entry information should be submitted prior to our approval of <br />the revision. <br />3. The proposed permit area should be superimposed on the Attachment B map <br />to ensure that all structures are proposed within the permit area. <br />4. Bond calculations should include casts for removal of the drainage and <br />sediment control system after reclamation is complete. <br />5. Drainage calculations for the disturbed laydown area use a CN number of <br />75. This value appears low for the site. Absarokee and Fughes loam soils are <br />"C" class soils. In addition we would expect the laydown area to receive <br />compaction from equipment and materials. The operator should revise the <br />disturbed area runoff and peak flow calculations or justify the use of a CN of <br />75 under the above mentioned conditions. <br />• 6.
