' TS80161
' RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E
An unreclaimed quarry of approximately 30 acres currently exists at the site. Figure
D.1 shows the quarry site, overburden stockpiles, and other general features as they
currently exist. This quarry was originally mined by Great Western Aggregates between
' 1962 and 1975. On the basis of site inspections, it is apparent that Great Western made
no attempt to segregate topsoil from other overburden when the quarry was originally
developed. Consequently, the reclamation plan presented herein takes into consideration
disadvantageous conditions that correspond to the prelaw operations of Great Western
' Aggregates and utilizes our best efforts to assure reasonable compliance with MLRB
performance requirements for site reclamation.
' Current Conditions
' As stated above, Great Western Aggregates operated a quarry at the site in the 1960's
and early 1970's. As this was a prelaw operation, little consideration was given to post
t mining re:claimability such as segregation of topsoil and mining in a manner to assure
post mining slope stability. In fact, when operations ceased in 1975, no reclamation
work was undertaken. Figure D.1 portrays the quarry as it exists today. This map was
' made from areal photography taken during February 1987 and therefore accurately
portrays current conditions as the site. Figure E.1 is an areal photograph of the quarry
' area. Further, to assist in portraying cturent conditions at the site, a series of
photographs are included in Figures E.2 and E.3.
Great Western also utilized the area south of the quarry for stockpiling oversized reject
' product from the lightweight aggregate processing plant. As a result, topsoil and
vegetation productivity have been adversely affected in this area as well. Photographs
presented in Figure E.4 document current conditions in this area.
Reclamation Goals
' Reclamation will be for a post mining land use of rangeland consisting of mixed grasses,
' forbes, ar..d shrubs. The land owner also has requested that a small (approximately
' -13-
