• of the alluvial valley floor will also not be impacted since
excavation will be at depths less than the depth to groundwater
and adequate drainage and sediment controlwill be provided to
protect surface water systems.
Groundwater Effects of Alluvial Wells
Six wells are currently planned to be drilled for Western Fuels
Association to supply the water needs of the Deserado mining
pofob<<
operation. These wells will supply the ~. water needs for
the mine as well as any process water needs that are not met by
water encountered within the mine. The maximum expected total
flow requirement from these wells is 601 gpm (Ford, Bacon, and
• Davis, 1981). A well test conducted by Ford, Bacon, and Davis
is the fall of 1980 indicates that a yield of 125 gpm from
properly designed and constructed wells in the White River
alluvium near the river may be possible. The proposed location
of these wells is shown in Map 102. Five of the wells will be
located adjacent to the river to maximize the chances for adequate
production. Such a strategy also minimizes the effect of pumping
on the water table.
Drawdown calculations have been made to estimate the drawdown of
the water table due to pumping from these wells. The tests con-
ducted by Ford, Bacon, and Davis indicated transmissivities were
24,970 gpd/ft and 12,410 gpd/ft for wells WFU-1 (the pumped well)
• and Qal-3 (the observation well) respectively. For purposes of
4/81 II.D-22
