REQUEST FOR ALTERNATE LIMITS
Dear Ms. Lenkey,
Colowyo is submitting the First Quarter 2001 Industrial Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR)
to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control
Division. Discharges occurred at Outfall OOSA, 006A, and OOlA.
Colowyo respectfully requests the Alternate Limits be applied to Outfalls OOSA, OObA, and
OOlA for an Active Mining Outfall apply specific to snowmelt within a 24-hour period of less
than or equal to the 10-year, 24-hour event, totaling 1.8". Outfall OOSA exhibited increased
TSS. Outfall OObA exhibited increased Fe, TSS, and SS. Increasing temperatures also affected
Outfall OOlA on March 5, 2001, causing the discharge to increase in TSS.
The self-monitoring data for these three Outfalls are listed in the first quarter 2001 DISCharge
Monitoring Report shown below:
