Site/Property Reevaluation form (continued)
5RT871
All of the exposed solum at the site was slightly moist. Erosion faces along
the two-track are very similar to the stratigraphy revealed in the probes. Probes
in the site were placed in small areas with less slope out of the scrub oak.
Descriptions of each probe are (see site map for locations):
Probe #1 depth = 45 cm artifacts =
Compacted light brown very clayey
approximately 2 cm thick. Struct
yellow brown, with extremely high
structure. C horizon yellow clay
structure.
Probe #2 depth = 45 cm artifacts =
0
loam. This A horizon is
ire is loose. B horizon is reddish
clay content. Slightly blocky
encountered at 45 cm. Massive
0
Same as above, A horizon 5 cm thick. C horizon at base of hole.
Probe #3 depth = 55 cm artifacts = 0
At the edge of road disturbance. Mixed A and B horizons to 50 cm. C
horizon encountered at that depth.
Based on the general paucity of artifacts (as originally reported), lack of
artifact diversity (as originally reported) and lack of cultural deposition, the
site is evaluated as not significant. It is recommended that the site be considered
not eligible for inclusion in the NRHP and no further archaeological investigations
should be necessary.
• 6.
