C7
MINING PLAN

a. This mine shall utilize the open cut method of mining. The mining
is ongoing, at this time, at the West end of the pit thru a con-
ditional use permit granted in 1975 by Rio Blanco County. This mining

shall continue from West to East at a rate dictated by markct dcmands
for the various aggregates produced.

b. Topsoil is scarce or absent altogether (see your report 1177-132 dated
November 17, 1977) at this site. We believe. however that the top 6 to
12 inches should be stripped and stockpiled for revegetation and reclamation.
•
~~
~~
~~
I[:
I[7
Overburden will be removed and stockpiled within areas where major
disturbance has occurred. These stockpiles will be moved from time
to time in order to facilitate additional mining within the area of
major disturbance. As the mining operation proceeds from West to East
and minerals are depleted the overburden will be utilized to bring
depleted areas to grade as shown in the reclamation plan.
Utilizing portable crushing and/or washing equipment, as the market
dictates, the aggregates will be crushed, graded and/or washed to produce
various aggregates and products to satisfy the demands of that market.
This will require stockpiles of various materials to be kept on hand
at all times.
c. See page S of Lease Agreement for water information.
d. Stockpiles as well as overburden piles will occupy space in the mining
area adjacent to the mining area currently being worked. The areas
occupied will only occur where major disturbance has already taken
place. As mining areas are depleted of mineral resources they will
be reclaimed utilizing overburden stockpile reserves. Therefore, major
~•
disturbance will only occur where active mining is ongoing. We antici-
pate that these areas of major disturbance will be 10 acres more or
less.
~~
e. Current and future market demands dictate the life of the pit. As
stated earlier, the pit will be mined from West to East with no set
timetable. We anticipate the life of the pit to be approximately 25
~ •
years.
