r
Mr. Bill Crick
Rill & Gulley Survey - page 2
Ridge has existed for several years. Mine staff have checked this
feature in the past and determined that the bottom of the gulley is
well lined with rocks, characteristic of the mine spoil in the area.
For this reason this feature has been allowed to carry drainage from
the pond access road to the West Ridge ditch. Following terracing and
grading activities, discussed below this gulley will be repaired and
seeded.
While there are several areas of rilling in the non-topsoiled area, the
mine proposes not to initiate repair activities at this time. Rather,
we would prefer to go forward with the West Ridge drainage plan,
currently before the MLRD staff for approval, as a long range solution
to erosion prevention. After completing the drainage plan, existing
features would be redressed and reseeding, as needed, would be done.
Several of the annual activities associated with drainage control at
the Edna Mine have been completed to date. These include cleaning of
the West Ridge ditch sediment trap, maintenance on the West Ridge ditch
and inspection of the limited contour terraces existing on West Ridge.
Should you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact
me at the mine.
Sincerely,
~~~
David Beverlin
Resident Engineer
