Schreiner, Reclamation Specialist <br />RE: =ile No. M-91-074 <br />Adequacy Items <br />The following items must be addressed by the applicant in order to satisfy the <br />applicable requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-101 et seg• and the Mineral Rules and <br />Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board: <br />/l. Exhibit B - Index Map: Please send a clearer map showing location of the <br />af`ected land and all roads and other access to the area. <br />/2. Our records do not indicate that the 9 acre pit adjacent to the 15 acre <br />permit area is permitted. Please describe the status of the 9 acre pit. <br />~3. The Division requests that the top 12 inches of the soil profile be <br />salvaged for use in reclamation. Topsoil stockpiled for more than <br />12 months should be seeded with a grass species such as intermediate <br />wheatgrass, pubescent wheatgrass, crested wheatgrass, or sorghum at a <br />ra:e of 10-15 lbs./acre pure live seed. Please commit to these practices. <br />J 4. Please characterize the gravel deposit to be mined and the depth of the <br />p i ~: . <br />~ 5. The reclamation plan specifies that a cover crop will be seeded. Please <br />specify the seeding rate and the species to be used. <br />6. The Division highly recommends the application of manure to improve soil <br />conditions during initial reclamation. <br />~ 7. Please commit to application of mulch following seeding of the cover <br />crop. An application rate of two tons/acre and installation by <br />"crimping" is preferred. <br />g. Thft seed mix provided in the reclamation plan includes three grasses: <br />blue grama, sideoats grama, and little bluestem. In order to provide a <br />mote diversified seed mix for rangeland and pastureland use please modify <br />the current seed mix and include one of the following nitrogen fixers: <br />ye~low clover, Ladak alfalfa, or "Lutana" titer milkvetch, and two of <br />the following grasses: switchgrass, Indian ricegrass, western wheatgrass, <br />yellow indiangrass, or buffalograss. <br />STAT~OF COLORADO <br />/ern <br />9213E <br />
