Considering the two flood <br />events of 1999, your findings that our quarry is in full compliance and there are no <br />violations of any U. S. Army Corps of Engineer regulations was most reassuring. As we <br />told you, we are committed to the very highest of environmental standards. <br />We also appreciate your inspection of the area south of the ranch, where the haul <br />road passes over the creek on the McBride/Weiland property. Your comments as a <br />biologist and regulatory specialist are most important to us: 1) sediment deposits in this <br />area are consistent with floods of this magnitude and could aot be attributed to the <br />quarry; 2) trying to clean up the sediment from around the trees would make more of a <br />mess than there is now; 3) the sediment will not hurt the growth of the trees; and , 4) <br />there is seed material in the sediment and therefore leaving it in place is the best <br />alternative. <br />The mostimportant part of your visit was the advice you gave us on how to better <br />contain the Flow Of Red Creek and further prevent erosion of the banks. l have provided <br />a map at attachment 1 and a sketch at attachment 2 for your review. <br />In section A (Quarry) we plan the following actions: <br />~ 1. Area of section A = 660' long x 11'avg. width = 7,260 sq. ft. <br />2. Rip Rap sides of creek. <br />' 3. Cut down and remove small cottonwoods from center of creek <br />4. Remove foreign debris. <br />In section B (Ranch) we plan the followwg actions: <br />1. Area of section B = 1130' long x 11' avg. width = 12,430 sq. ft. <br />2. Rip rap sides. <br />3. Excavate high (filled-in) portions of creek to natural flowline. <br />
