• INTRODUCTION
As part of the final reclamation plan for the Seneca II Mine, this appendix outlines the design
procedures and final designs for postmining drainage channels located on the site. The designs are
for both planned and existing channels.
The locations of the channels are shown on Exhibit 7-19, Postmining Drainage Control. The
profiles for each channel are shown on Exhibit 7-20, Postmining Channel Profiles. Appendix A
contains the postmine hydrologic demonstrations and Appendix B contains the hydraulic
calculations for all ditches. Appendix C contains the culvert designs.
The following channels were designed :
• SII PM-7 • SII PM-Sa • SII PM-15
• SII PM-2 SII PM-8b SII PM-16
• SII PM-3 • SII PM-9 • SII PM-17
• SII PM-4 • SII PM-70 • SII PM-18
• SII PM-5 • SII PM-11 • SII PM-]9
• SII PM-6 • SII PM-72 • SII PM-20
• SII PM-6a • SII PM-12a SII PM-21
• SII PM-6b • SII PM-]3 • SII PM-22
• SII PM-7 • SII PM-74 • S1I PM-23
• • SII PM-8
All of the channels will be permanent and were designed to control the peak discharge from the 70-
year, 24-hour storm event. Because parts of channel SIIPM-4 is adjacent to a fill azea, it was
designed to control the peak discharge from the 700-year, 24-hour storm event. Also, because the
total watershed for the lower part of channel SIIPM-1 is greater than one square mile, it was designed
to conuol the peak discharge from the 100-year, 24-hour storm event.
In addition to the permanent channels, the following misting culverts were evaluated as permanent
stmctures:
• ZA • 18A • 45A
• 2AA • 19A • 47A
• 3A • 24A • 62A
• 9A • 29A • A3
• 12A • 30A • AS
• 13A • 32A
• 15A • 33A
The location of the culverts are shown on Exhibit 7-] 9, Postmining Drainage Control. Appendix
C contains the hydraulic calculations for permanent culverts, while Appendix 12-2 contains all
• original culvert designs.
TR-36 7-12-1 Revised 11/04
