in the HI aquifer, and backflll wells GF-5 and GF-7, were used in the development of this •
map. Wells GF-5 and GF-7 are completed in the backflll in the area where the H and I coal
seams were mined. Flow in the HI aquifer has been changed mainly near the A pit
between wells GF-4 and GMP-1. The overall flow regime in this aquifer is northerly, similar
to that observed in 1997 (see Hydro-Engineering, 1998). The ground-water gradient
between the baddiA aquifer and the un-mined HI aquifer downgradient is relatively flat as
it is in the QR backfill. The contours in the HI aquifer have also been changed on the east
side of the active A pit.
The 3rd White Sandstone aquifer water-level elevations are presented on Map
No. 2-3. Wells GB-2, GC-2, GE-3, P-8, 81-03A, and GP-9 were used in the development of
this map. Flow direction in the 3rd White Sandstone is mainly toward the north, as
expected. Data from wells GE-3 and 81-03A indicate that the 3rd White Sandstone water •
flows toward the west between these two wells and probably toward a discharge to an
adjacent aquifer or to the surface. The 1998 contours are very similar to those observed
over the last few years.
•
2-10
