• feet, reflecting seasonal influences. The magnitude of water level was similar in 1998 for <br /> well GD-3. Well GD-3 is approximately 1200 feet upgradient of well GD-2. It is <br /> topographically higher and closer to D pit and is completed in backfill. The increase in well <br /> GD-3 had been more uniform and not as rapid as in well GD-2 until 1998. The unconfined <br /> backfill aquifer's storage parameter would be much larger than the storage coefficient for <br /> the confined aquifer at GD-2 and, therefore, would be expected to dampen responses. <br /> Water levels remain fairly stable with a very gradual rise over the last four years <br /> and reflect natural variations at well GP-9 showing that high precipitation years do not <br /> greatly affect this aquifer at well GP-9. A similar response was observed in the other 3rd <br /> White Sandstone well, GC-2, that must be responding to natural variations. <br /> The GE wells (GE-1, GE-2, GE-3) are near the northwest comer of the PA. They <br /> • are completed in the QR, HI and 2nd and 3rd White Sandstone aquifers, respectively. <br /> Water levels for these wells are presented in Figures A-5 and A-6. Wells GE-1 and GE-2 <br /> continue to gradually recover since 1993 while, overall, GE-3 has slightly increased over <br /> the last four years. The water-level rise in wells GE-1 and GE-2 is likely due to recovery <br /> from previous mining in the area and the higher precipitation. Figure A-6 also presents <br /> water levels for wells 81-03A and GLUX-1, which are completed in the 3rd and 1st White <br /> Sandstone aquifers, respectively. The 1998 water levels in well 81-03A have been fairly <br /> steady. Water levels have been fairly steady over the last year in well GLUX-1. <br /> Figure A-7 presents water levels for wells GF-1, GF-7 and P-8. These wells are <br /> completed in the 20 Mile, HI backfill and 3rd White Sandstone aquifers, respectively. Well <br /> GF-1 is a flowing well. Water levels in GF-1 significantly declined in 1998.
