Lorenciro Canyan Mine - Geolagv Technical Report
Primero Coal
Additional analyses were conducted on the primero coal seam. Data for the primero coal seam
is summarized below and presented in Table G-8.
The selenium concentrations for the two samples analyzed were 0.153 mg/Kg and 0.009 mg/Kg,
respectively. One of these values slightly exceeds Wyoming Guidelines. However, this material
will be mixed which should reduce the concentrations. Therefore, these values would not interfere
with the hydrologic balance or reclamation activities.
The sodium adsorption ratio for the two samples analyzed was 25.40 and ,19.40, respectively.
According to Wyoming DEQ Guidelines overburden with SAR values above 15 are not suitable
for reclamation success. Since SAR values exceed 15, a four foot thick layer of top soil cover will
be placed over the material and should have a good reclatation suitability.
Primero Coal Floor
• Data for the Primero coal floor samples is presented in Table G9.
The selenium concentrations for the two samples analyzed were 0.171 mg/Kg and 0.084 mg/Kg,
respectively. One of these values slightly exceeds Wyoming Guidelines. However, this material
will be mixed which should reduce the concentrations. Therefore, these values would not interfere
with the hydrologic balance or reclamation activities.
The sodium adsorption ratio for the two samples analyzed was 19.0 and 20.10, respectively.
According to Wyoming DEQ Guidelines overburden with SAR values above 15 aze not suitable
for reclamation success. Since SAR values exceed 15, a four foot thick layer of top soil cover will
be placed over the material and should have a good reclamation suitability.
SECTION 4 -REFERENCES CITED
Boyd, John T.
