FOOTNOTES - APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES <br />a/ - The thirty (30) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean <br />of three (3) samples collected in separate calendar weeks during a <br />thirty (30) consecutive-day period with a minimum of 20 days occurring <br />between .the first and last sample days. <br />b/ - The seven (7) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean of <br />a minimum of three samples taken on separate days in a seven (7) day <br />period. <br />c/ - This limitation shall be determined by a single sample or set of <br />samples as required by Part I B, Sample Type. <br />d/ - When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the samples <br />shall be collected during March, June, September and December, if a <br />continual discharge occurs. If the discharge is intermittent, then <br />samples shall be collected during the period that discharge occurs. If <br />the permittee, using the approved analytical methods, monitors any <br />parameter more frequently than required by this permit, then the <br />results of such monitoring shall be included in the calculation and <br />reporting of the values required in the Discharge Monitoring Report <br />Form or other forms as required by the Division. Such increased <br />frequency shall also be indicated. <br />e/ - Definitions of Sample Type <br />1. A "composite" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a minimum of <br />four (4) grab samples collected at equally spaced two (2) hour <br />intervals and proportioned according to flow. <br />2. A "grab" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single "dip and <br />take" sample. <br />3. An "instantaneous" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is a <br />single reading, observation, or measurement performed on site. <br />4, A "continuous" measurement, for flow monitoring requirements, is a <br />measurement obtained from an automatic recording device which <br />continually measures flow. <br />5. A "visual" observation, for oil and grease monitoring requirements, <br />is observing the discharge to check for the presence of a visible <br />sheen or floating oil. <br />6. An "in-situ" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is defined <br />as a single reading, observation or measurement taken in the field <br />at the point of discharge. <br />Code: i - 16 Date: 1 - 84 <br />Revised 10/86 <br />
