J
.~
.~
Page (1)
File //'j9-21.q HR
i. p •~
• A~E~~~~
Answers to letter -January 29, 1980

Item //17 - Proposed zoning ie planned to return to agricultural zoning to
conform to the existing zoning of the adjacent surrounding land
of Johns Manville. The planned reclamation is also consistent
with Johns Manville current land use of wild life habitat. Un-
less and until the surrounding land changes use this seems con-
sistent and proper.
FSchibits C & F -
1. The waste area shown on the plans should move properly be
labeled top soil, stockpiles as there is no other residual mat-
erial from this quarry.
Exhibit D -
~dribit E -
2. Land owners ad~ecerit to the permitted area are D.L. Painter,
Cooley Gravel Company and Ken Caryl Ranch Corporation and they
have been properly notified as per rule 2,2.
3. All drainage has been described in the Thorne Ecological
Report.
1. Mining operation is a simple standard drill and blast of
open face granite walls, (refer to Jeffco Board of Add. permit).
Blasting is currently 2 to 3 times per week.
2. Time table of operations is only possible by estimate.
Currently approximately 60,000 tons per year are being removed.
However, increases in significent amounts can be anticipated
each year. Reclaimation will not proceed apace with mining due
to the vertical nature of the mining plan (re: Jeffco permit).
3. Answered in Exhibit C & F. There is an over abundence of
overburden top soil available on site and is mere]y a problem of
moving it on site and removing, by screening, oversize rock.
k. There are no plans at this time to extend the disturbance
to move the 20 acres.
5. Top soil stockpiles will be stabilized if left undisturbed
over a growing season.
1. Gn site top soil will be used and will be tested and supple-
mented with fertilizer additives as required to ensure a prroper
medium.
2. Top benches are to be treated the same as other benches.
3. Unlmown at this time (re: Jeffco permit).
4. See //1.
