The Subsidence <br />monitoring program is required to verify predictions of subsidence <br />related phenom~~a derived in the subsidence survey (refer to Geo-Hydra <br />report in the Subsidence Appendix, Volume 3). <br />Actual placement of monuments is found in Section 2.05.6(6)(c)(i)(B). <br />• <br /> <br />(6) (c) (i) (B) <br />Colorado Westmoreland Inc. currently operates three separate subsidence <br />monitoring programs: visual inspection; widely spaced monument <br />monitoring; and detailed panel mornnnent monitoring. <br />~~ 5y~r' The visual inspection consists of a physical walk over on the surface <br />of pillar recovery areas one time per year. Features such as tension <br />cracks aril conroression bulges are mapped and described. Also included <br />~~ S~ during the initial~t term is a visual inspection of landslide <br />~~' areas to ascertain if pillar recovery and subsidence reactivates <br />movement, scarp development, or-associated detachment. Future pre- and <br />post-mining inspections of structures will also be incorporated. <br />Surficial hydrological features are monitored monthly to determine <br />possible i~acts of subsidence. Additionally, areas of underground <br />mine inflow are monitored and mapped on an annual basis in accordance <br />With Stipulation No. 29 (as attached to the July 21, 1988 Proposed <br />Decision and Findings of Compliance).
