In my submission, I showed these roads as possible roads to use in my mining operation.
I did not include them to be new disturbances as they are preexisting disturbances;
however, as stated, I have agreed to accomplish any reclamation necessary to close and
remove these roads.
I will use Forest Service system roads for about 50 percent of actual mine site access. I
hope to use only Road B for the remaining access. However, if necessary to lessen the
environmental impact, to safely bring the track hoe onto any site, or for refueling, it is
possible I will need to use Road Aand/or Road C.
The walk-in areas are indicated on the map by blue color coding. Total length of walk-in
routes is 755 feet. About 80 feet is over currently disturbed ground (between Site H and
Site I and between Site M and Site N). The width of the walk-in routes is 9' 6", which is
the width of the track hoe tracks. Each track is 24" wide.
2. Specify which of the mines sites have road access, and for the sites drat do not,
specify the distance and approximate slope to the site from the road that will be
used to access the site access.
As indicated on the maps, Site A is the only site directly linked to a Forest System road,
(Road 752). Sites C, E, G, F, H, I, J, L, M and K are all directly linked to an existing
non-system road. Sites B, D, and N are not directly linked to any existing road.
The attached map shows the walk-in routes. The distance from Site A to Site B is 60
feet. Site B will be accessed through Site A. Slope of this access route is 9 percent. Site
D will be accessed by walking the track hoe down from F.S. Road 752 as indicated. This
distance is 235 feet. Average slope is 18 percent. Sites C and E will be accessed through
Site D. The safe travel distance for the track hce from Site D to Site C is 148 feet. The
average slope is 15 percent. Site E will be accessed through Site C. The distance is
about 25 feet. The slope is 5 percent. This plan eliminates Road A, even though it
directly accesses most of these sites, as an access road. If Road A is used, the walk-in
from D to C (148 feet) would be eliminated.
Sites F, G, $ J, L, and M are directly accessed by Road B. Site F is accessed directly
through site G. Site I is accessed through Site H along an existing mining road crossing
disturbed ground of 40 feet length. Slope is 2 percem. Site N is adjacent to Site M and is
accessed through Site M across disturbed ground about 40 feet.
Site K is directly accessed by Road C; however, I will plan not to use Road C for track
hoe access. Site K is adjacent to Site B on the Elk Horn Mine which is currently being
operated under M-2003-030. Therefore, the best access is to use this currently disturbed
area and to walk the track hce across slope from the Elk Horn, a distance of 207 feet.
Average slope for this access is 4 percent.
