Banks and Gesso, LLC
Exhibit H -Wildlife Information
Asite-specific wildlife inventory for this site was not performed, however, data from
nearby quarry applications and the Colorado Division of Wildlife was used to prepare this
exhibit.
Wildlife Habitats
Habitats are typical mountain shrub communities with some patches of ponderosa pine
(Pinus ponderosa) and Douglas fir (Psuedotsuga menziesii). Trees scattered throughout
the site provide nesting and perching sites for birds.
Mountain shrub communities are present and are composed primarily of mountain
mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus), skunkbush (Rhus trilobata), currant (Ribes
cereum), choke cherry (Prunus virginiana) and bitterbrush (Purshia tridentate). These
communities afford habitats for a diverse array of bird and small mammal life and are
representative of big game winter ranges along the Front Range of Colorado. Habitats
present are not unique to the area and comparable communities occur on surrounding
lands. There are no riparian habitats present onsite.
Exposed rock outcrops are present on site and these can potentially be used by cliff
nesting raptors, woodrats and small birds. These types of habitats are available in the
surrounding terrain and reclamation will replace exposed rock faces
The reclamation plan has been designed to minimize long-term impacts to habitat by
using native species in revegetation. The use of native plants in restoration is significant
because they will afford wildlife a food and cover source similar to pre-mining conditions.
This will offer wildlife the same type and quality of forage that they currently find in the
area.
Reptiles
Rattle snakes (Crotalus viridis), bull snakes (Pituophis) and garter snakes (Thamnophis)
occur in the area.
Clear Creek District Water Providers, LLC October 25, 2004
MMRR Quarry 19 03047
