The Torriorthents, similar to the Rentsac soil, <br />are described below. <br />The Rentsac soil is a member of the loamy-skeletal, mixed <br />(calcareous), frigid family of the Lithic Ustic Torriorthents. <br />A representative profile of Rentsac gravelly loam, sample <br />point MU 8 in map unit NiBE, about 30 feet east and 20 feet <br />north of the center of Section 28, T. 7 S., R. 102 W., at <br />an elevation of 5,491 feet is: <br />Al 0 to 9 inches; light yellowish brown (lOYR 6/4) <br />gravelly silty clay loam, yellowish brown (lOYR <br />5/4) moist; moderate thin platy structure; soft, <br />very friable, sticky and plastic; calcareous; <br />i 20 to 30 percent gravels, few boulders on surface; <br />few fine and medium roots; pH 7.6; gradual <br />smooth boundary, <br />C1 9 to 20 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) gravelly <br />fine sandy loam, yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) moist; <br />moderate medium granular structure; soft, very <br />friable, sticky and plastic; calcareous; 20 to 30 <br />percent gravels; few fine roots, very few coarse <br />roots; pH 7.8; abrupt boundary. <br />R 20+ inches; sandstone flagstones. <br />Typically, the surface layer of the Torriorthent soils is <br />a pale brown or yellowish brown loam to very gravelly loam <br />
