August 2002 -43- 003-2203

vacuum of not less than 5 psi. Poly-Flex and Golder observed the action of the vacuum on the
seam for a minimum often seconds. Each consecutively tested seam length was overlapped a
minimum of 3 inches. If soap bubbles appeared, Golder marked and documented the leak
location. Poly-Flex then repaired the leak and vacuum tested the repair. This procedure was
also followed to test extrusion repairs and extrusion patches.
The seam non-destructive test summaries (fusion pressure tests and extrusion vacuum tests) are
presented in Appendix K-9.
6.2 Leak Detection Trench and Underdrain Geosynthetics
Conformance testing for 40-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane used to construct the LDTs is
presented in Appendix L-1.
Geomembrane in the LDTs was extrusion welded. Golder monitored trial seams, as described
in Section 6.1.3.1. Geotextile in LDTs and Underdrains was placed with a minimum overlap of
1 foot.
Conformance testing for the 40-mil LLDPE used for Phase IVa construction met specificafions.
6.3 Underground Workings Geosynthetics
Conformance testing results performed on geogrid used in the remediation of the underground
workings are presented in Appendix M. Golder monitored geogrid installation, including
construction of proper connections.
Conformance testing for geogrid used for Phase IVa construction met specifications.
1:10012201104W1CenRep0802100J220J.040004JgOtttdx Golder A55ociates
