2002 -31- 003-2203
I . 4.2.9 Cast-in-Place Concrete
Golder observed placement and testing of CIP concrete material used in construction of the
Phase IVa Area. Golder observed and documented testing of approximately 130 cubic yazds
of CIP concrete for slump, air entrainment, temperature, and compressive strength. Ten tests
were performed on slump, air entrainment, and placement time and eight tests were
performed on compressive strength for a testing frequency of approximately one test per
13 cubic yards. This exceeded the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per every
50 cubic yards. All tests met compressive strength specification. The concrete observation
and test results are presented in Appendix H and summarized in Table 15.
August 27, 2002 approximately 3 cubic yards of concrete with an air entraimnent value of
4.7 percent was placed in the 42-inch CSP wing wall, which was below the project
specifications of 5 percent. Golder accepted the low air entrained concrete as the variance in
air entrainment was considered insignificant.
LJ
~.~oovzosoaamcene~voeoz~oo3zzo~oaoo.oa~am.cax Golder Associates
