Dear Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology,
This note is in regard to the application for a mwng permit by Johnson Excavation and Luke Tellier.
It is my understanding that wildlife habitat is an issue the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology mast
review and discuss before granting a permit. Although the Division of Wildlife employee Elisabeth Miller
was consulted, her comments were based on information which is incorrect. Her statements reflected an
impact review based on crusher operation for 4 weeks. The permit applied for allows for more than twice
this period of operation (10 weeks). The impact on wildlife habitat needs to be re-evaluated with the
accurate operating parameters before the permit can be issued.
According to James Lieberman of Environmental Information Services, it is certain that the noise from the
rock crasher will exceed the state ordinance for noise
We understand that the arena in which the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology can refuse a permit
is limited. However, it should be known that all neighboring parties except those with a vested interest
(i.e. relatives of the Telliers and the county itself), are completely against this gravel pit!
It will be a detriment to our property values and our general quality of life. We have had no means of
protecting ourselves from this process since the county commissioners who are in a place to decide fairly
and thoughtfully have tamed their backs on their constituents in order to satisfy their own agenda. We ask
you to review this application carefully and thoughtfully as if it were going to operate in your otm back
yards.
Thanl: you for giving us this opportunity for comment
Sincerely, ~ RECEIVED
David S Janet Bradley
SEP 2 2 1998
^_6475 CR 33A
Steamboat Springs
Cn R0487
