Peak Project Management, LLC <br />34115 County Road 20.8 <br />Trinidad, Colorado 81082 <br />(719)868-2027 <br />June 26,2002 <br />Mr. Kent Gorham <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Koom 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Lorencito Mine <br />Quarterly Sediment Pond Inspections <br />Certi£cation of Quarterly Inspections <br />Dear Mr. Gorham: <br />2 `'~ ~ Zooz <br />On June 24, 2002 the sediment control ponds numbered 7, 9, 9A, and l0A at the Lorencito Mine were <br />inspected for structural integrity, erosion, other hazardous conditions, and to identify required maintenance. <br />The inspection also satisfies Rule 4.05.9 (13) of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal <br />Mining. They were re-inspected on June 26, 2002, after the first significant rainfall since they were <br />constructed. All ponds had received some inflow. None were discharging and no significant new erosion <br />was noted. <br />To the best of my knowledge, based upon my field observations and investigations, as detailed in the <br />attached inspections reports, all referenced ponds are being maintained in conformance with pendent, state- <br />of-the-art earthen embankment construction. <br />Sincefcly, (~ <br />`~~-~u~6l~J <br />Ronald G.
