~ ~ III llllllllllllllll
NIELSONS INCORPORATED
General Contractors
Pxorta 565-8461 P. O. Box 1660
CORTEZ. COIARADO SI321
June 7, 1977
Colorado Mined Iand Reclamation
723 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
PIITN: Ms. Margaret Koperski, Rec].atnation Specialist
Dear Ms. I~perski:
This letter is to oonfiun our phone conversation of June 6, 1977.
The V.J. Ledford Pit as mentioned in correspondence and the May 24, 1977
Hoard Meeting is now known as the North State Pit and the South State
Pit. Permits for these two operations were sulmi.tted to your office
on June 3, 1977. As Nielsons, Inc. now holds the permit from the
State Board of Land Commissions for gravel fmn this area, it was
felt that the V.J. Ledford Hance should be dropped. The fact that all
correspondence and doccanents pertain to the same area can be shoran by
omID~~ring legal descriptions.
In reference to your statement that the board and staff recaxnenls
that no work be performed in any part of the Grace Pit, Nielsons, Inc.
has ceased work at this site and will not start up operations until
approval frcan the Board is received.
We do request, however, that, subject to approval of the information
and applications being submitted by Nielsons t~ the Board for an
eiflPSgency meeting, same non-mining activities be allowed during that
period between approval and actual issuance of the permits. Specifically,
dewatering operations could be perforned under NPDES permit standards
prior to issuance of the paper work and lessen the lead time in
restoring excavation operations.
Very truly yours,
NIT~.SdNS, INC.
Chris Nofsin~
Engineer
CN:ks
"dN EQDdL OPPOBTDNITY EEfPLOYER•'
