<br /> <br />will surround the plant site to contain fuel spills and provide <br />flood protection. Water used in the plant will come from a <br />pond in the northwest portion of the plant site. Truck washout <br />and water used in the plant will be deposited in settling ponds <br />from which it can be recycled. All federal and local laws <br />regarding water quality will be complied with. <br />Health and Safety <br />The asphalt and concrete plants are constructed to meet OSHA <br />safety requirements. Electrical wiring conforms to the National <br />Electrical Code. Flatiron maintains its own safety staff which <br />inspects operations frequently. In-house standards are strict <br />and well enforced. A radio and telephone will be provided by <br />the company for everyday and emergency communication. <br />The asphalt plant typically operates one shift, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., <br />Monday through Friday, with 5 to 7 employees. The plant is not <br />usually in operation during winter months. The concrete plant <br />operates with the sa.~ie weekly schedule with 8 to 12 employees. <br />Work in winter months is dict8ted by weather conditions. Both <br />drinking water and toilet facilities will be available on site. <br />D-12 <br />
