• III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII •
9~
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
Rio Blanco County's intent is to pursue this proposed gravel pit
se a periodic aggregate source for projects is the Rangely area.
Access to the site will be from Rio Blanco County Road No.2,
along the East aide of Johnson Draw. The site seta back
approximately one-quarter of a mile from this County Road which
will help buffer any duet, noise and visual concerns. Aa
existing access road will be used from the County Road to the
proposed gravel pit site. Once oa site a new road will be
constructed to allow equipment to the actual mining operations.
Mining will commence is the Northwest aectioa of the pit. The .
mining will progress Easterly along the North side of Moon Lake
Electric power line sad South of the limits of gravel as shown of
Exhibit C. A 50 foot setback from all existing power poles and
linen will be maintained at all times during the mine's life.
Acceea to these power poles will be from the south along another
existing access road.
The topsoil and overburden will ba stripped and stockpiled in the
Northeast aectioa of the mine site and will also help reduce any
visual concerns. These stockpiles will accumulate over a five
year period, but will be revegetated within a 90 day time frame.
All mining operations (crushers, conveyors, dozers, and scrapers)
will initially be stationed in the aforementioned Northwest
corner.
The gravel bed (in the westerly portion of the site) lies under
about 4 feet of overburden sad 6 inches of topsoil. The gravel
itself is approximately 15 feet thick. The actual disturbed area
at nay one time ie only four to five acres. This equates to the
removal of the maximum of 30,000 tons of raw material a year.
Finished products will be stockpiled oa site.
The mine will be consistent with the County gravel pit located
next to Rio Blanco County Road No.2 that is approximately one-
half mile west of the Rangely Middle School. That site is
exhausted except for some smaller pockets of material.
