2-46
permeability. The amount of water that is available within the seam may be reduced
because there will be no fracture system to enhance water holding capacity.
The magnitude of water inflow that can be expected in this area is difficult to determine.
The operator anticipates that future inflows may reach a maximum of 77 gallons per
minute (See Appendix N). The operator will continue to monitor these inflows and shall
continue to submit annual reports to the DMG. Any discharges from the mine to the
surface water system will be in accordance with the requirements of the Colorado
Department of Health Dischazge Permit CO-0038342.
Since there are no groundwater rights adjudicated in the area of the mine there will be no
impact on any water interests. Future water interests could be enhanced because of the
increased water retaining capability of the strata in the abandoned areas of the mine.
McClane Volume 1 November 30, 2001
