•
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman
Denver, CO
August 15, 1989
RE: Winkler Light Aggregate Quarry Application
• III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
RECEIVE®
AU G 151989
MINED LAND
RECLAMATION DIVISION
The Rock Ridge Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization would like to go
on record at this time, August 15, 1989, as opposing the proposed Winkler Light
Aggregate Quarry. We further request the opportunity to address our concerns at
public hearing on August 23, 1989.
The main traffic route for this mining operation (Ridge Road) comes within less
than a 1/2 mile of our school and is along the main route for school traffic.
As the proposed operator has no intention, as per their application, of paving,
widening or further addressing the traffic situation on or road inadequacies of
Ridge Road, we find this a potential hazard for our students, teachers and others
travelling to and from our school.
We also have grave concerns about the effect that dust and noise from this traflic
will have on the quality of life for our children, as students spend organized
learning time every day outside, at this year-round facility. The proximity of Ridge
Road to our school makes these major concerns for the welfare of our students,
faculty, staff and parents.
While these are not reclamation issues, we feel that concerns about health, safety
and welfare should be addressed at all levels of the quarry application process; and
we respectfully request that you deny approval of this reclamation permit.
Respectfully,
Libby Mi er, Pre 'dent
Rock Ridge Elementary PTO
Castle Rock, CO
