(ACZ) has performed the semi-
annual sediment pond inspection of the four ponds located at the Grassy Gap
Mine in Routt County Colorado. Please find the October report included with this
letter.
ACZ also performed the monthly and quarterly surface and groundwater sampling
for the various permits. Of the four monitor locations included under the existing
Colorado Wastewater Discharge Permit (NPDES), only station 005 located at the
Pond 5/6 outlet culvert, has discharged since May 1991. During the recent
quarter, measured flows at this location were 5, 4, and 4 gpm in July, August, and
September respectively.
Surface water point SW-4 was discharging in October at a rate of 30 gpm. The
static water Level in monitor well MW-3 was 6.16 ft. below grade. No discharges
were observed at surface water monitor stations SW-2, SW-3, or SW-5 and there
was no measurable water in spoil wells 2 or 5. The field measurements taken for
these locations are listed below.
STATION TEMPERATURE (F) pH CONDUCTIVITY
(umhos/cm)
MW-3 62.8 9.61 1120
SW-4 57.4 7.6 1390
