•, The species composition will be capable of withstanding <br />grazing pressure at least comparable to that which the land <br />_. sustained prior to being affected by mining and related <br />activities. <br />II-5.0 PROTECTION OF NEWLY SEEDED AREAS <br />II-5.1 Fencing <br />All seeded areas will be fenced to exclude access by <br />humans and animals and to protect the newly seeded areas. <br />Fences will be maintained two growing seasons or longer if <br />- revegetation efforts have been determined inadequate. The <br />type of fence used to protect seeded areas will initially <br /> <br />~ be four-strand barbed wire with the distance between the <br />- <br />. <br />top <br />two wires <br />at least eleven inches. The bottom wire <br />will <br />be 15 inches above the ground while the middle two wires <br />will be spaced eight inches apart. The distances between <br />the wires have been recommended to maximize wildlife <br />protection. Fences to protect seeded areas will be removed <br />after it has been determined that an area has an adequate <br />stand of vegetation and does not require further protection. <br />Temporary protection from .grazing animals after fence <br />- removal will be implemented through standard range management <br />practices of herding, salting and eliminating or closing <br />available stock water facilities.
