<br />The SCS has indicated that there is no prime farmland within the project <br />area and no unique farmlands have been identified. Although rangeland <br />has not yet been classified in Colorado, the project area is <br />substantially overgrazed giving it little chance of being included in <br />this category. (U.S. Soil Conservation Service, 1979) <br />2. FLOOD PLAINS <br />The term "flood plain" is defined in Executive Order 1198, May 24, 1977 <br />as the lowland and relatively flat adjoining inland and coastal waters <br />including flood-prone areas of offshore islands to a one percent or <br />greater chance of flooding in any given year. <br />• The flood plain for the White River in the vicinity of the Deserado Mine <br />was estimated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento, <br />California. They determined the 50-, 100- and 500-year flood water <br />surface elevations. These elevations are presented in Table II.J-2 and <br />the 500-year flood prone area is shown in Figure II.J-1. <br />• <br />II.J-3 <br />
