Box 187 Natural Resource Trustee
Craig, CO 81626
Re: Trapper Mine, C-81-010, First Quarter 2007 DMR Review
Dear Mr. Roberts:
The Division has reviewed Trapper Mining Inc.'s (TMI) fourth quarter 2006 Colorado Wastewater
Dischazge Monitoring reports, CDPH&E permit No. CO-0032115. TMI's first quarter 2007 DMRs were
received by the Division, on Apri130, 2007. The reports cover the time period from January 1, 2007
through March 31, 2007. Timely submittal of these reports is in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii)
Seven outfalls dischazged during first quarter 2007. Outfalls 001, 002 and 020 discharged routinely
throughout the quarter. Outfalls 011, 013, 017 and 021 discharged in response to spring snowmelt events.
Primary effluent limitations were exceeded on outfalls Ol 1 and 017 for TSS and iron. Due to a fast
snowmelt (sudden warm temperatures, as documented in the NOAA weather summaries) the alternate
effluent limitations will be applied to outfalls Ol 1 and 017. WET tests were conducted for outfalls 011,
020 and 021. No exceedences of WET test limitations were reported for any of the tested outfalls.
Sediment levels in the ponds remain below the 60% clean out threshold.
TMI provided precipitation and temperature records with the DMR forms to document weather conditions
on the site.
Thank you for the timely submittal of these reports.
Protection Specialist
C:/jhb/C81010/DMR's/2007/Ist Q.doc
Cc: Dan Hernandez, DMG
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand function Durango Active and Inactive Mines
