EXHIBIT J (Cont'd) <br />small, very scattered individuals of Cottonwood and Willow. <br />I Cover averages about 80 percent. <br />The Sagebrush area is small in extent but is quite <br />promiment because the dominant species, Tall Sagebrush, <br />reaches heights of six to seven feet. Grasses include Smooth <br />Brome, Inland Saltgrass and Western Wheatgrass. The overall <br />I cover is approximately 90 percent. <br />The Riparian Vegetation can be divided into areas of <br />I Willow or Cottonwood trees. Sometimes these mix. Cover <br />averages about 80 percent, including the usually dense under- <br />story of many different grasses and forbs. The trees reach a <br />1 height of approximately 60 to 70 feet. Some tall, dead cotton- <br />, woods also occur in the area. The Riparian Vegetation commun- <br />l ity is found on alluvial wash soils. <br />The small areas of Saltbush are found along the road in <br />the only highly saline/alkaline soil in the area. It forms <br />almost a monoculture; cover is less than 25 percent. Some Alkali <br />Sacaton can be found. This type of vegetation occurs almost <br />exclusively on the Arvada Loam, but some is also found on a <br />~ small area of Wann Sandy Loam where alkali has been introduced. <br />-31- <br />
