r
.' • •
"EXHIBIT F"
Water Resources:
(1) Surface water resources are limited to the snow and r.sin runoff
from a relatively small drainage basin. Examination .if the
U.S.G.S. map marked "Exhibit A-1" indicates by the topography
that the drainage basin is serviced by three generall:j dry
gulches, and the main gulch, Jackson Gulch, originate: in the
eastern part of Section 16. This drainage area has less than
500 acres which could contribute runoff water to or from the
affected area of the mining operation. This area is .in essence
the head waters of this small source of water and pro rides no
constant flow of water from the basin. The historica.L Normal
recipitation in this area i ~_ no nat-
ura within the area to retain any of the runof:`.. Sur-
face runoff is permitted to drain from the affected area by
the natural drainage channels, but small check dams helve been
provided in a few locations to limit errosion and pro~ride settle-
ment. Also some french drains of either rock or perforated pipe
have been installed to provide for the flow of surface water.
Underground water resources appear to be nonexistant. The ex-
traction of quarry rock has not entersected any underground
aquifiers. Several test holes drilled in the area have not
revealed the presence of underground water. Four (4) inter-
mittent springs on the property have provided from tine to
time a small flow of water.
(2) This mining operation has altered, in some parts of tkie af-
fected area, the normal flow of water generated within the
affected and surrounding areas. These alterations have re-
duced the gradations of the normal water channels, elc~minating
a portion of the errosion and silting in the runoff welter. No
pits or basins are generated in the quarry to retain or conta-
minate the water when there is any runoff. Other than above
mentioned, the mining operation has no significant imF~act on
the quality or quantity of water.
(3) No water right ownership is involved in this operation.
(4) No permits or certificates are indicated for this operation.
(5) "Exhibit F" provides a letter from the Colorado Division of
Water Resources dated February 24, 1976 and a letter from the
Colorado Department of Health dated March 1, 1976.
Y-a~ea' i5 ~rUc,~cec4 in -~rdv~ ~.¢ASG~n~-~ V(~ ~1ki~11o(r
