DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT
By lever dated June 16, 1998, the permittee requested deletion of two outfa[!s, numbers 016 and 017. Outfa!! 016 is the
discharge point for Pond M; outfail 017 is the discharge point for Pond K. Both outfalls have been approved for
removal from the permiaee's surface runoff treatment system by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(CDMG). And, by letter dated August 18, 1999, the permiltee requested deletion of outfall number 010. This outfall is
the discharge point for pond M3S. Final bond release for these three sites, as well as for pond M3N covered under
general permit certificarion number COG-850013, has been granted by the CDMG.
The surface property owner of the area upon which Pond M is located has asked that this pond remain in place
permanently for use as a stock watering pond. This pond's outfall would na longer serve as a discharge point from an
industrial facility; it is considered to 6e a discharge from an agricultural operation and, as such, is exempt from
Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) requirements. The CDMG has approved of the pond remaining for this use.
The permittee is the owner of the property upon which Pond K is located. Pond K is required to be removed under the
CDMG approval. The pond area will be reclaimed.
The CDMG has alto approved Pond M3S (outfall 010) to remain as a stock watering pond, thus it will also remain after
ftnal bond release.
Table 11-1 indicates that spoils springs may be sources to Ponds M3S and M (outfalls 010 and 016, respectively). This is
because the permittee, when they applied for authorization for these outfal[s, believed that the possibility existed for
spoils springs to develop that might contribute to the discharges.
CORRECTED SEP 24. 1 999
