Dept. of Naw~a~ ~;.~,uurces
I am writing in reference to the upcoming decision ,you must soon mat;e regarding
the permit extension of the Castle Concrete Co., Colorado Springs. I am at this time,
not before you with a specific stand, but address myself entirely to the question
of the hearing itself.
As a Colorado Springs Planning Commissioner, I am very cognizant o£ the benefits
of permitting full public imput before attempting ±o reach such a decision. I
am also very concerned about proper lone-range planning of both the use of our
natural resources and the preservation of the Front Range.
This is a subject that has very strong public feeling in the Colorado Springs
area. I urge you to conduct your hearings not in Denver, where you will hear
only from the firm's attorneys and from the chairmen of a few large organizations,
but in the locality immediately affected by your decision. I would recommend
Coronado High School or the City Auditorium. T further urge you to some down
early that day and view the sites in question and the surrounding arias personally.
Sincerely
~~~
Donald E. Bergen
