Box 125 <br />Norwood, CO 81423 <br />Dear Mr. Watson: <br />This report was developed with information provided by the Soil <br />Conservation Service. <br />The area affected is located along the upper bank of the <br />Uncompahgre River. The location of the gravel pit is <br />approximately 7 1/2 miles south of Montrose just east of Hwy 550. <br />The legal description is NE 1/4, NW 1/4, Section 7, Township 47 <br />North, Range 8 West, N.M.P.M. The size of the gravel pit is <br />about five acres. <br />The area affected by the gravel pit is a pasture area and <br />contains the following vegetation: <br />Shrubs: Rabbitbrush <br />Grasses: Foxtail barley, cheatgrass, smooth bronegrass, <br />orchardgrass, meadow fescue, quackgrass, timothy, redtop, <br />perennial ryegrass. <br />Forbes: Yellow sweet clover, white sweet clover, field bindweed, <br />Russian knapweed, sunflower, mustardweed, Russian thistle, <br />scarlet globemallow, prickly lettuce, plantain, alfalfa, salsify, <br />clover, dandelions. <br />Soil type in the gravel pit area is Vernal Clay Loam. <br />The top 3 - 4 feet of soil should be scraped off and stockpiled. ' <br />When gravel pit operation ceases, all slopes should be graded to <br />at least 4:1 slope or flatter. <br />
