The proposed mine site is located adjacent to the town of Alma, Park County, directly east of Colorado Highway 9. The site is at the 10,900 foot level east of file cres of the Continental Divide, and has been significantly dist rbed by over 100 years of previous on-site mining. Vegetation surrounding the site and on the undisturbed portions of the site consists of the conifer o erstory (Lodgepole pine and Bristlecone pine), Aspen (lo ated on glacial moraines north and east of the site) nd the herbaceous understory (Kinnikinnick, mixed gras es and fortis). Two field reviews were conducted February 18, and M 1985 to evaluate wildlife. Both cottontails and jac were sighted, and there was evidence of elk, coyote In spite of the clear, mild weather, though, no big seen on the property.
