The <br />site is at the 10,900 foot level east of file cres of the <br />Continental Divide, and has been significantly dist rbed by <br />over 100 years of previous on-site mining. <br />Vegetation surrounding the site and on the undisturbed <br />portions of the site consists of the conifer o erstory <br />(Lodgepole pine and Bristlecone pine), Aspen (lo ated on <br />glacial moraines north and east of the site) nd the <br />herbaceous understory (Kinnikinnick, mixed gras es and <br />fortis). <br />Two field reviews were conducted February 18, and M <br />1985 to evaluate wildlife. Both cottontails and jac <br />were sighted, and there was evidence of elk, coyote <br />In spite of the clear, mild weather, though, no big <br />seen on the property.
