If gravel processin becomes <br />economically feasible in the future, gravels may also be <br />developed, but a permit amendment will be request before <br />any commercial gravel operations are undertaken. <br />The applicant requests a permit area for only 160 acres of <br />the entire 620 acres of the claim group. The appli ant has <br />• no plans to mine west of Colorado Highway 9. Am ndments <br />will be submitted at a later date for any other areas beyond <br />the 160 acres. <br />The method for mining the property is divided ii <br />stages; site construction and preparation, minin <br />tions, and Einal abandonment. Each stage of the mil <br />has been designed to minimize environmental deter <br />and to facilitate the reclamation process. A mine <br />map depicting the stages of mining is presented in <br />C, Plate 4. <br />Site Construction and Preparation <br />During this stage of the mining methods, access ro< <br />be upgraded, and the processing plant facilities an <br />ment will be moved on site and constructed. Three ~ <br />access roads from Highway 9 will be improved by gra <br />graveling. These access roads are indicated on Exl <br />Plate 4 as Access A, B and C. Access Roads A and <br />already disturbed areas. Access Road A crosses tl <br />Platte River over already constructed culverts, s <br />culverting will be necessary. Access Road C will i <br />major access until 1987, when topsoil will be stri <br />stockpiled. The road will be graded and gravel <br />realigned path as determined most convenient at t <br />. for South Phase operations.
