Drill Sitc and :\ccess Road \\'ildlifc Sun•cv
Bird Sun~cv .
\'cry fe+e birds were obscn•ed along the proposed access road or at the well site. The presence
of evergreens along Terror Crcck resulted in some species txing obscn•ed that ++•ould not have
been on the mountain shnrb hillside. liahitat requirements for those species observed arc not
limited in the general area.
Threatened, findanecred and Sensitive Species
Along both the road corridor and at the drill site +vildlite obscn•ed ++•tLC similar to that obscn•ed at
other locations in the study area. Again, suitable habitat ++•as generally, lacking for nearly all
species of concern. The proposed road about "1'crror Crcck is far enough removed that chances
of any siltation getting into the stream and aflccting aquatic species is minimal. With the
implcmcntation of proper safeguards no silt should reach the stre.•mt.
77tere were no TES species obscn yd either along the proposed mad corridor or at the drill site.
Rantocs
There is no suitable habitat around the drill site for raptor nesting. 77tcrc arc potential nest sites
~ in evergreens tinurd alon?t I•yrror Cn•rk. I lo+ccvyr, durint: multiply suncys no ny++ or i~ld nests
• ~+cre obscn•cd in they t:yyx.
tiitc I'-BR[.-1-03-III
Drill tiitc and Accts. Road I lahitat tiun•cv
"I'he proposed access routs to this site ++ill rcyuire the construction of appro~imatch• 1.9 miles of
road. Prom l~error Crcck the proposed route follo++s an existing A"f\' trail from the main Terror
Creek road for approximately .8 mile. From that point the route +rill Ji~llrne art old cxplontion
mad to the Jrill site. "Ihc proposed road traverses through mountain shnrb habitat and sc+•crtl
small meadows. In some nteado+vs there arc springs +vhich feed small constructed ponds that arc
usrd for livesta:k gracing. The road also goes through or immediately adjacent to several
transition aspen stands through an clevational range of 7160 to 7840 feet.
The drill sits is located on the referenced road in a mountain shnrb vegetative community at an
elevation of 7840 tcet and is situated on a 30-40% side slops ++ith vt cast to nonhcast aspect.
l.atc scral Gambol oak I S to 20 fret tall and serviceberry are the prntt.•tn• ovcrston• species.
Snowbcm• and chokcchcrry arc the priman• understory shrubs. 'I•hcre is n forbigrass contlxmcnt
that is well established on sonic areas around the site and not as mhust in others. Thcrc arc small
transition aspen stands in the imntcdiatc vicinity of the drill site.
•
