State ReQ.
• VII. Seneca II Permit Renewal (19861 Hvdrolow Information
A. Probable Hvdroloaic Consequences
In Section III of the Seneca II Mine Permit Application
(December, 1980) a ~etPTm+*+~tion of the probable hydrologic
oonseques~ of minirxJ was made in accordance with the
Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for
Coal Minirx3 (effective August 30, 1980). Conclusions were
based corn data presented in the grand and surface water
sections of Tab 7. During the past five years of minir'g,
hydrology data have routinely been gathered according to the
CMCRD-approved monitoring Program. ~nese data have been
~*~~, intiespreted a~ discussed in Annnaal Hydrology
Reports grr~ared by PCC hydrogeologists; the most recent report
(1985 AHR) was submitted to the CNII12D in February, 1986. As a result
• of these reports, water quantity and quality charges in the
hydrologic system at and in the vicinity of the Seneca II Mine have
been evaluated car an annual basis since February, 1983. Conclusions
drawn frcmt these AHRs indicate that portions of Section III can no
longer be considered valid and should be revises. Additional
monitoring as described in this section is necessary to better
estimate present and predict future consequences of mining. Thus,
the following section serves to update and qualify the information
originally ~~*~+~ in Section III.
'ihe purpose of this PHC is to evaluate past and to predict
future surface and grourrl water quantity and quality impacts to
Qas~y and Fish Creeks. In onier to a~lish this goal,
historic (past six years) flora and water quality data collected
as part of the Sen eca II Mine hydrology monitoring program are
presented and d; G.-,_ ~~.
