CASE NARRATIVE
' Samples were prepared and analyzed according to methods outlined in the
following references:
' o Methods for the Determination of Metals in Environmental Samples,
EPA/600/R-94/111, May 1994 .
' o Methods for the Determination of Inorganic Substances in Environmental
Samples, EPA/600/R-93/100, August 1993 .
' o Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes, USEPA 600/4-79-020,
March 1983 .
' o Standard Methods for the Examination of water and Wastewater, 17th Edition,
1989.
Problems encountered with the analyses are discussed in the following narrative.
' The method blank spike associted with the ICP analyses has a lithium spike
recovery of 0 .48 mg/L which is a 96% . This is well within QC windows and
' verifies the accuracy of laboratory procedures for this method. The matrix
spike, which was performed on a sample not associated with this project, shows a
47% recovery.
' There was not enough sample to perform a sample spike and duplicate on the
cyanide samples however, a method blank spike duplicate was performed to show
good laboratory practice.
1
1
